Location: Leeds Buddhist Centre
Parinirvana puja evening Friday February 13th
At this time of year, as Buddhists, we traditionally remember the events leading to the Buddha’s death or Parinirvana, reflect on our own mortality and remember those who were dear to us who have died.
There is the opportunity to place photos of dear ones, you have lost, on the shrine and, in the context of the ‘Rejoicing in Merits’ section of the puja, share some memories of them.
We will begin promptly at 7pm by generating a communal cushion of metta to carry us through the evening.
We will then reflect on our own ‘finitude’ ie limited life span, as deeply or lightly, as we feel able.
This will be followed by a traditional 7 fold puja which will be interspersed with readings relating the Buddha’s final hours .
I do hope you will join us, for what I would hope will be a moving, supportive and thought provoking evening of reflection and devotional practice.
