“Green Tara and the Fourth Lakshana” with Nagakusala and Steve Hart
In his later writings Bhante wrote an inspirational piece on the fourth lakshana or ugliness as the doorway to transcendental beauty as embodied by the Bodhisattva of Compassion Green Tara. We contemplate her presence and beauty as we move beyond our restrictive and narrow states.
In this session we will also be discussing and sharing our experiences of Beauty (Sometimes as Bhante points out Beauty is under-emphasised but Truth and Goodness get more airing). This short essay can be found in “The Archetypal Realm” p663 in Sangharakshita’s !Aphorisms, the Arts & Late Writings” (Windhorse) – but it’s not necessary to read beforehand as we’ll work through the short essay on the night with plenty of time for discussion, and appreciation of the Beautiful.
We can consider art, the beauty in the brahma viharas, appreciation of the Imaginal realm or whatever else inspires us.
Open to all
Lots of love
Steve
